The Challenge

Tom’s strategic and is best at the front of Rochford Group driving outcomes for his clients and his business. That’s what gets him into the office each day. BAS, IASs, month end statements… not so much.

As an AFSL holder, running Rochford Group comes with multiple statutory obligations and all aspects of the company’s financial management is scrutinised. While the client’s Rochford advise are often large organisations, Rochford is very much a privately owned and operated SME. Year end obligations definitely need the support of a seasoned finance director, but month to month things are not so complex.

The Solution

Tom needed a customised approach to accounting and advisory services. While the day-to-day financial tasks of the business were straightforward and managed effectively by his team, the need for higher-level strategic advice arose occasionally—advice requiring the expertise of a financial manager or executive officer. That’s where we come in.

As Tom’s virtual CFO, we collaborate with Rochford’s external auditors and provide critical support during the year-end process. This ensures Tom and his team stay focused on their core work, minimising disruptions while maintaining seamless client support throughout the year.

Over our time as Rochford’s virtual CFO, we’ve also guided Tom and his team through two divestments and two Management Buyouts (MBOs). These are complex financial processes that may fall outside the scope of an in-house finance function but are exactly where a virtual CFO adds significant value.

We are on the other end of the phone as questions arise and make sure that we are sitting down at least quarterly with Tom to discuss his own business growth and opportunities.
